"48. Haggis"

my mom is going to visit with some friends in NewYork on the weekend of your Anniversary. it's some kind of seminar with a scottish theme... they are going to have haggis.. haggis is like the lamb equivalant to our hotdog. It's all kinds of gross parts of the lambie.. mixed into a paste. then they cover it in oil and light it on fire. (that's how it gets cooked.) but from what I can understand it keeps the consistancy of hummus, and it gets served on bread or crackers.

I'm supposed to tell you that my mom will be thinking of you while she's eating (well, "trying out" really) her haggis.

yea, me either.

But the squid was good.
I've had it fried and grilled.
I prefer it grilled, and only as a slight flavor garnish.. at the Mongolian Grill down in DC. (fried is sooooo rich!!! they must have brought us like.. 25 bitty squiddies. I didn't feel so good.. after like 5.)

Ooh, you must try lobster (the texture is like shrimp so you may not like that if you don't like that of shrimp, but the taste is wonderful. Especially dipped in garlic butter.) I also recommend kangaroo (tastes like steak) and smoked shark. Yum. Stay far, far away from the squid though. Bleh.

yeah... I have heard lobster is good...
I have had shrimp...
I am allergic to some seafood though... and I don't know all of which kinds, so I just tend to avoid all of it except for regular fish... : /
smoke shark sounds interesting though...
where were you that you had kangaroo?? australia??

Yep. I went with WOL Youth Reachout to Australia & Papua New Guinea in 2000 and 2002, when I was the intern. In 2002 one of the Aussie BI workers hit a kangaroo with his car (they're like deer here) and killed it and you're allowed to eat them because there're so many of them so we had it for dinner. And I had kangaroo jerky my first time there. =o)
